25% of patients die to illegible handwriting of doctors
Bern University Hospital Inselspital (Switzerland) has recently released the results of his study that 25% of patients for bad handwriting of doctors ends in death.
In 52% of the handwriting, which was written prescriptions, was frankly bad, but 4% of cases - simply unreadable. Of the 200 deaths due to incorrect use of medicines, 25% are associated with promiscuity recipes.

Wrong medication is a major cause of mortality among hospitalized patients. mVrachi of Berne analyzed errors in prescribing the hands of one month in 2005 (using historical data). mRetsepty analyzed for handwriting legibility in order to establish the coefficient of the negative impact of bad handwriting errors in processing the prescription.
The results showed an error of 65 cases investigated in 1934 (3.5%). It is likely that at least some of the mistakes associated with illegible handwriting of doctors.
However, research has not established a clear cause-effect relationships between the illegible handwriting and medical errors.
The study authors concluded that the only way to increase the level of security prescription process - clinics to translate documents into electronic form.
For this purpose, a special program that can not only fix the problems associated with poor handwriting, but also to verify the correct dosage of the proposed drug.
